Why We Love It

Dark, glossy leaves that love the cold, so fresh greens grow right through winter.

Smoothie season doesn't end just because the garden is asleep. This spinach is built for the cold: the variety does best in winter and likes temperatures between 40 and 70F. Let it get too warm and it tends to bolt. The organic heirloom seeds sprout in 5 to 10 days and reach maturity in about 45. Harvest the older outer leaves first so the young ones keep coming. Those dark, glossy, crumpled leaves work in salads, in cooking, and yes, in the blender.

Cold outside, fresh greens inside. Winter just lost a little of its edge.

Brand story

Plantflix

Plenty of plant lovers have been burned by a bad seed deal. Alina Smith turned hers into a business. After a couple of years growing houseplants, she ordered seeds online that were sold as watermelon peperomia and calathea. What came up looked a lot more like mustard. So Alina and her husband, Jeff, started Plantflix in California, selling seeds that are exactly what the label says.

Today the catalog runs from ponytail palms and desert roses to leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, cooking herbs, and catnip for the resident cat. Varieties are labeled beginner-friendly, intermediate, or advanced, and the team publishes growing and troubleshooting guides so first-timers aren't left guessing.

Plantflix is upfront about the fun part, which is the growing. Listings say plainly that you're buying seeds, not a grown plant, so nobody is surprised when the mail arrives.

Clear labels, clear steps, and room for every kind of gardener.

Description

Grow your own nutritious greens with our Organic Spinach Seeds! These seeds will sprout into delicious spinach, perfect for adding to salads, smoothies, and more. These seeds are organic, non-GMO, and heirloom so you can grow the highest quality harvest.

Instructions:

We recommend using the following to sow the seeds:

  • 12 Cavity Greenhouse or Planter with Humidity Dome
  • Soil Pods
  • Liquid Fertilizer

Spinach prefers cooler climates, and this particular variety does best in winter. In fact, if it’s too warm, they’re likely to “bolt”. Spinach is a fast-growing plant, and as such would benefit from some fertilizing.

The best method for doing so is to harvest the outer, older leaves so that the younger leaves have time to grow in. This variety works great in salads or in cooking.
