Kyrgies

Some brands make products. Kyrgies keeps a tradition going. Every piece is handmade in a women-owned, fair-wage workshop in Kyrgyzstan, using a UNESCO-protected nomadic felting tradition, mulesing-free wool, and leather tanned with tree extracts. No plastic anywhere.

The house shoes grow from a simple idea: the outside world should stay outside. Everyday shoes come home from gas stations, parking lots, and dog parks, and kitchen floors do not need the recap. A University of Arizona study found the outside of everyday shoes carries hundreds of thousands of bacteria, and about a third of what's inside a home walks in from outdoors. The fix is easy and cozy: outside shoes stay at the door, and a pair made for home takes over.

Wool pulls moisture away, so feet stay drier and fresher, naturally. The same natural materials carry through every Kyrgies piece, each one made to soften and get better with years of use.

There, they’re lovingly handcrafted by Kyrgyz artisans to whom we pay a fair wage for their craftsmanship. Forming part of a tradition of felting that has existed for thousands of years, our felt house shoes are made using all-natural materials, including low-impact dyes that don’t damage local ecosystems.
