It started with a pair of scissors. Julia DeNey was working as a paraprofessional in Boston Public Schools when a student kept tugging at the label in her shirt. Julia cut it out, and the girl went right back to playing with her friends. That moment stuck. Julia, a 2020 Cornell graduate who had planned a career in children's fashion, spent more than a year surveying parents and autistic adults about what really works when getting dressed.

The answer became Sense-ational You, which launched in 2022. Every piece skips the usual irritants: no tags, flat seams, soft knits. Many styles go further, with magnetic closures in place of zippers and snaps, sound-reducing QuietSense hoods, compression-lined tees, and built-in fidgets like a marble maze. The brand works with fair-wage factories, and the clothes look just like what everyone else is wearing, which is kind of the point.

Julia's goal is for kids to feel comfortable enough to be who they are, wherever they are. Soft seams and easy closures turn out to be what everybody wanted all along. That's Universal Design, stitched in.
